Course Description

The Level 2 Diploma course is designed to increase students Site Carpentry skills and knowledge to have the ability to start working as a trainee carpenter in the construction industry.

Students will learn:

  • More complex house and roof construction
  • Wood joints
  • Construction materials
  • Carpentry power tools; their care and uses
  • Building Regulations
  • Health & Safety
  • Entry Requirements

  • Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery
  • Level 1 English and/or Maths
  • Successful interview with college staff
  • Assessment Methods

  • Completion of course portfolio
  • Assessment of student practical work
  • Written tests based on student coursework
  • Essential Skills examination
