Course Description

The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to work in a barber’s shop as a junior barber.

Students will learn a variety of barbering skills such as:

  • Shampooing and Conditioning
  • Cutting (incl facial hair)
  • Colouring
  • Styling
  • Students will also learn about Health & Safety and client consultation. Additionally, students are required to complete Essential Skills in English and Maths.

    Entry Requirements

  • Level 1 Diploma in Barbering
  • Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy
  • 4 GCSEs including grade A-D, English or Maths
  • Successful interview with college staff
  • A report from the school or other educational provider
  • Assessment Methods

    Practical observation, oral questioning and online testing, written assignments and Essential Skills examinations.

    Qualifications

    City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Barbering and Essential (Functional Skills) in English and Maths.
