Course Description

The Level 3 BTEC 90 Credit Diploma in Media (Television & Film) focuses on the television and film industries.

The course covers

Single and multi-camera techniques

Video production

2D and stop motion animation

Career development in the media industries

Research skills for the media and film industries

Students will also produce a variety of short films and TV advertisements. Students additionally will study Essential Skills English or Maths

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs Grade C or above, including English

OR Level 2 qualification in a similar area (at Merit or above)

Level 2 English and Maths

Successful interview with college staff

Assessment Methods

All units are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. Students must pass each unit to get the Diploma qualification at the end of the course. Students are also required to undertake an examination in Essential Skills English and Maths.

Progression

Internal progression: Year 2: On successful completion of the 90 credit Diploma students can then progress onto the BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV & Film). In addition, students will gain a qualification in Essential Skills English or Maths

Progression: Most students will go on to Higher Education courses in Media Production at university, a career in media or a related area.
