Course Description

This qualification will give students the knowledge, understanding and competency needed when considering employment in the media industry. It will provide insight into the various employment opportunities available in the sector and opportunities to develop the fundamental skills underlining all Media Production.

The course focuses on the vocational aspects of the media world and teaches you the practical skills that you need to further yourself as a media professional. Employers value these qualifications as they prepare you for the work place.

Theory is an important element to the course and it is essential that you learn the academic side to aid your progression within the creative sector.

The course has good links to the industry with media professionals often leading on briefs and providing work experience to those students who have proved their ability to get good results.

On this course 75% is coursework-based and 25% is exam-based. You will look into these various aspects:

    As part of the course we actively encourage you to explore the creative industries around you to help you become more employable. We document your employability hours throughout the course. To assist you with this we:

  • Visit the BBC
  • Visit the Harry Potter Studios
  • Visit galleries in London
  • Organise and run charity events
  • Have talks and workshops from Media professionals.
  • Entry Requirements

  • 4 GCSEs Grade D or above including English and Maths
  • OR Level 1 qualification in a similar area
  • Level 1 English and Maths
  • Successful interview with College staff
  • Assessment Methods

    All units are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. Students must pass each unit to get the Diploma qualification at the end of the course. Students are also required to undertake an examination in Essential skills English and Maths.


  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production

    If learners have high attendance, achieve high grades, have passed their functional skills or GCSE (as required) they can move onto:
