Course Description

The Level 2 Diploma Is designed to develop the practical skills Students need to work as a Carpenter and Joiner which includes 1st and 2nd fixing, Kitchen fitting, and fixing structural components, floor joists and roofs. You will learn basic joinery technique and how to interpret drawings needed for site work using the College simulated conditions. You will experience working in teams, handling and storage of materials, usage and maintenance of tools and the important Health & Safety considerations of the trade. The Level Three NVQ course advances the core skills and techniques learned on the Level 2/NVQ course. Students will develop an advanced standard of joinery skill and understanding of materials, equipment and safety responsibilities in the construction workplace.

Entry Requirements

A pre-entry interview with the course tutor, Carpentry Foundation Level 1, NVQ2 Diploma

Assessment Methods

Practical assessments during the course, Written test papers during the course and a end of year On-line final examination
