Course Description

This is designed for people who have or are seeking a teaching role in post-compulsory education and wish to gain their initial qualifications. It is also appropriate for technicians and support staff in further and adult education as well as those who are teaching or training in the workplace. ?Survival skills? including lesson preparation, course planning, classroom management, teaching strategies are all covered.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have appropriate professional/vocational skills in their specialist teaching area. It is essential that applicants have sound communication skills and can provide evidence of having a minimum of level 2 literacy and numeracy skills.

Assessment Methods

There will be one theory and one practical assignment plus observed teaching of at least 30 minutes.

Progression

This course leads directly to the CG 7304 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)/Associate Teacher Status (ATS) or CG 7305 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTTLS)/Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status (QTLS). The progression option will depend on the work role of the trainee.
