Higher Education
This course is part of the new framework of qualifications for people teaching in the post-compulsory sector and will last for 1 year. It is designed for people who are teaching in post-compulsory education in a limited role, such as facilitator, one-to-one, delivering prepared materials, and single subject level. It is also appropriate for those who are teaching or training in the workplace.
They may have an Award in Preparing to Teach (PTLLS) which will provide credits for the qualification. It is essential that applicants have sound communication skills and can provide evidence of having a minimum of level 2 literacy and numeracy skills.
Course work, assignments, observations and teaching practice of 30 hours.
This course leads to Associate Teacher Status (ATS). Progression to a Diploma in Teaching in the Life long learning Sector and Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status (QTLS) is possible for those whose career develops beyond the limited role identified above.
